Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
